Cottontail Conundrum

The more thought I put behind the programming my children and I enjoy, the more confused I become while reflecting on the outlandish circumstances in which they abide. And while we have enjoyed Max and Ruby with all 3 of the kids so far, Ella really seems to have a problem with it......

"Mommy, I don't know why Max and Ruby don't have a Mommy or Daddy......maybe their Mommy died and right before she died she said, 'Ruby, take care of Max.' But Max doesn't obey very well."

Anyone else have a better Max and Ruby theory? Because Ella and I are about ready to call Bunny CPS.

Who's in Charge Around Here?

My brain flipped out and decided to obsess over something (of no importance) so much that it did not allow for any sleep and my body is begging me to go back to bed.

My daytimer tells me that I have a playdate in 30 minutes and my checkbook says we can do it if I print out a coupon. (My printer just whispered a secret that I have no ink.)

My stomach is telling me that I want a Denny's sized breakfast but my clock is telling me we have no time.

My kids-unaware of the playdate-are telling me they want to stay home and play Wii and their actions and faces are telling me they want to be locked in their rooms till they emerge respectful and kind.

I don't feel that I am in control of any part of my day today.

What You Get if You Chat With Me....

missthany: man, that taco I made was sooo good

KristyBlais: oh yay!

missthany: lots of cheese and lots of fresh avocado with salt

KristyBlais: ooooh wow

missthany: and there was some meat in there too i think

KristyBlais: hahaha

KristyBlais: good, just for flavoring, right?

missthany: yeah. Next time, I will just get a meat flavored seasoning-it would leave more room for cheese and avocado

And, so you can feel like you got your money's worth for today's post....

This is the sort of thing that doesn't surprise you when you live in my house and try to pour your cereal:

The only conundrum is who of my 3 little wonders decided that Hiccup and the other Vikings needed to conquer the Honey Nut Cheerios?

Brought to You By the Number "6" and the Letter "S" for "Sarcasm."

Apparently, my body has decided that we are going nocturnal now.
I mean, that is the least I can gather since it kept me up till 6am this morning.
And 4 the night before.
And the night before that.

So cool then. Nocturnal.
I will work at night and sleep at day.
This has "Success!!" written all over it.

Yep. (Repeat)

Used once before in 2007 and still true today.

Happy Monday Like No Other

Some days, when I am in the middle of explaining to a 2 year old why she was put on time out for yelling at her mother, my mind will suddenly explain to my body how much happier it would be playing Lego Indiana Jones 2 on the Wii than talking to a 30 pound tyrant. One of these days, my mind might actually win.

Here's wishing you the kind of week where you see something lovely....like a flowered branch with a ladybug on it....

...but when you look a little closer, it's actually two ladybugs and they'd like you to close the door behind you when you leave.

Key to Reading the "Love Song"

I don't like raisins.

I consider it to be a great act of love when I make tuna for Lucy and David.

Spearmint gives me a headache.

A Short Statement.

Hiding the evidence of Cadbury Egg consumption in an empty Pringles tube might be counterproductive to what I am looking to accomplish.

the end.

And Then I Promptly Placed Myself on Time Out

My daughter just scolded me.

Lucy. The four year old.

And I had to do my best to not laugh.

She marched into the living room and said. "Guess what? Ella could reach the knife."

Her head was cocked to one side and she had one hand on her hip.

In the other hand? The offending butter knife. Covered in jelly from the morning's jelly bagels.

I apologized.

I didn't feel like there was anything else I could do but to apologize.

The 18 Month Old Learns Physics

In an attempt to thank Aunt Kristy ("Dun dun dun duuuuunnnnn!!!) for her acts of braverism, Ella decided to fling herself in Aunt Kristy's direction with all the force in her little 18 month old body. And there was nothing to slow down that forward motion other than....Aunt Kristy's nose.

We don't THINK its fractured.

I'm Being Watched.

Someone in my family is hilarious. This is what greeted me this morning in the downstairs bathroom.

Manus Manum Lavat

Is it just me....

......or are these possibly the most hilarious and totally creepy hand soaps you have ever seen?

Someone invite me over for dinner so I can bring this as a hostess gift.

Can I Just Tie Them Up for the Next Month?

Play-Doh everywhere.
Colors mixing.
Mom twitching.

IS SUMMER OVER YET?!?!?

Imagine the Breakout Sessions

1 load of laundry and 6 pairs of pajammy bottoms.

Is there some sort of Pajammy Top Convention I don't know about?

At the Beep

There is a watch downstairs under the couch or in a toy bin somewhere that has an alarm that goes off every night at 12:26am.

Oh listen, there it is now.

I Also Tax Their Halloween Candy

The kids indulged in individual boxes of Animal Crackers this afternoon and you know what I love?

That little bit of lemon the "crackers" have to them...

...and how the taste stays deliciously in your mouth long after you have eaten the 10 you made your kids give you out of their own boxes of crackers.

Ready, Set......

We open the fridge-there is no milk.
Where's the milk?
We need the milk!

It is 9:45pm on Sunday night and the race has begun:
Who can change into comfy clothes/pajammys first so THEY don't have to do the late night store run? (Last man standing fully dressed "gets" to go to the store.)

I will not be surprised to be lobbied with a change of rules in favor of a Rock-Paper-Scissors challenge upon David's return.

Needing a Dictionary

I have a new(ish) laptop and now when I play my favorite computer game, the finger-touch pad is calibrated differently and I am not getting the high scores I usually get.

I know, isn't my life a complete tragedy?

Double Standards...The Only Kind To Have

As I drive around town (I have been doing that a lot...I am on a mission that when it is complete, I will tell you all about!) I am amazed at the number of houses that still have their Christmas Lights on display.

This judgement is passed despite my role as a Christmas Decor Nazi and including the fact that I still have my Holiday Starbucks Mugs on display in my kitchen.

Ahhh, hypocrisy...isn't it refreshing?

Sometimes You Just Can't Dial Down the Crazy

I love that Elle McPherson uses the word "knickers" instead of "panties" on America's Next Top Model. I am SO teaching that one to my kids. Hmmmmm, if I only talk in a British or soft Aussie accent to Ella if she will develop one? That would be awesome! I'd have 2 Yankee Youths and 1 sweet English Muffin.

OK, I just went back and read what I wrote and I have decided I have too much power. I shouldn't be raising impressionable children. Maybe with every crazy Mommy thought I have, I will put a dollar in a jar to be later used for the kids' counseling and crazy-deprogramming sessions.
