Fingers Crossed That I am Psychic

While shopping for beds at a local furniture store...

"Mommy, look at this bed! I love it! We should get this one."

"No Nate, we aren't getting a bunk bed. I don't think we will ever get a bunk bed," I said as I imagined Lucy deciding to rappel from the top of the bunk bed out the window using only hair ribbons and strips of princess dresses.

"When I am a daddy, I will get one for my kids," came the firm and quiet reply.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, twin boys. There will be two of them in my wife Lexi's tummy and they will have a bunk bed."

I stopped walking, leaned in really close to the wide eyes of my son and replied:

"Nathan, I WISH twin boys upon you. I really really hope you have twin boys."

(Sorry Lexi, he deserves them.)

  1. Hehehe... I have yet had the opportunity to place "the curse" on any of my kids. As my boys (especially the oldest) have taken a vow of eternal bachelorhood, and the only one of my kids to even utter the possibility of being a parent one day is Paige.. and well.. it's PAIGE.

  6. Poor Lexi nothing...She can handle it. She is being raised strong and courageous and God fearing, I think that's what it takes to raise twins!
And what in the world did I ever do to "deserve" twins? ....um, oh, well...nevermind.

  7. I take it all back - you ARE an evil mommy! Or mommy-in-law one day. What a great Nate story, though. I love those moments. Ariana has always said she was going to have four children, three of them boys, the oldest a girl and probably one of them will be adopted. I mean since she was little. Rissa just begs not to have more than two but thinks they'll be boys. Kids......

  8. Oh, and Carol so deserved to have twins. When I was pregnant with Ariana she kept trying to scare me by telling me I was having twins until one day I turned around, pointed at her and said,"Hah! You're gonna have twins for doing this to me!" And one year later she was having our beautiful girls. Karma, baby.

  9. I laughed out loud when I read this one. I used to always tell my son that I hoped he had a son JUST like him! Time will tell, but the older he gets and the further removed from his childhood we get, I find myself thinking that it wouldn't be THAT bad....hehe.

  10. Too funny. Yeah...I can see how he deserves it. My dad is 1 of twin boys. Oh the stories they tell! Holy terrors! But...you know...if you're the Grandma you're going to have to help!
