"I Think I Might Cry!"

Ever surprised a kid with a trip to Disneyland?

We had the chance to do just that on Monday. The kids got themselves all ready for school and we told them we were going to Starbucks first but then, Dad lowered the boom.

It was, um, received interestingly by both my big kids. While it is hard to stop looking at Nate, be sure to see Lucy's face and her lack of expression. David says Nathan just sucked all the emotions out of the car and there weren't any left for Lucy.

  2. Nate says, "Way to go, making your kids cry like that." This is just more proof of the foundational reasons our family adores your family, even though separated by many miles. All the kids gathered round our computer and we had to play the video twice. =^)

  3. You can totally picture what's going thru Lucy's head, "omg Nate has officially gone crazy, what should I do, no sudden movements and we will all be okay." - Auntie Sarah

  4. Okay. This video makes me want to come live among your children for a weekend. Ella is so stinkin' cute. Lucy's facial expressions are HILarious. And, I have to tell you, if my husband said, "You might have noticed we're not on our way to church. I'm driving you 10 hours to Disneyland instead." I would likely respond the exact same way as Nate. That right there is a little man after my own heart.

  5. Okay, that's absolutely the most precious Nate ever!

And I love how Lucy immediately starts explaining happy crying. "...like that one time you showed us the picture of when Aunt Kristy and Uncle Kris got married..." And she followed it up with a shoulder shrug. Priceless.

  8. I was 13 in 1958 and we had no idea where we were going and then my brother noticed the famous Matterhorn and asked Isn't that Disneyland? And the chorus of Are we going to Disneyland!?! rang through the station wagon. We each got our ticket book. I traded all my E tickets for A tickets and rode the Merry-go-round over and over. These are the kind of moments you never forget. I loved your sharing this. <3

  9. this should be a commercial. You need to submit to Disney- way better than the creative pizza box one...
Loved your response, of "well we can take you back..."
Funny. And oh that Ella. OH!

  10. You have the most amazing children. You really should submit this to Disneyland for their videos this year. That is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

When my girls were little we had them spend the night at my mom's, got everything ready and picked them up first thing in the morning. Ariana collapsed on the stairs screaming. Best thing ever! Well, until I saw Nate. That really IS the best.

  11. Just getting caught up on your blog and I have to say reading the other comments makes me feel better knowing I wasn't the only one crying while watching this! Seriously. I think that's the most precious thing I've ever seen.
